Overview
Victoria Park Function Venue and Golfing Complex is one of Brisbane’s largest and most successful function locations. With expansive grounds containing a Grand Ballroom, fully air conditioned Ceremonial Marquee and numerous medium sized and smaller rooms; they handle every kind of function you can imagine.
Victoria Park Function Venue chose to partner with B&H Australia for their Audio Visual requirements in 2006 and since then have invested in a number of EIKI Multimedia Projectors throughout the venue.
Most recently the Grand Ballroom was treated to an audiovisual overhaul, involving the design and installation of an entirely new system.
The requirements for the new audiovisual system were performance, appearance, ease of use and obviously price. Each of these criteria was seen to be as important as any other due to the nature of the venue and its setting. B&H Australia satisfied all the system criteria at a price that suited the venues budget.
The Ballroom itself is very large and capable of being split into two separate function rooms, often with two functions running simultaneously. Any new system was not only going to have to support this feature but make it simple to setup the Ballroom for such functions. To achieve this an AMX control system was chosen to provide the centre’s staff with a simple easy to navigate set of controls for the new system. A new MVP 5.2” Wireless Colour LCD Touch Panel was selected as the systems control panel due to its versatility and excellent value. From the touch panel functions can be set up, the room configured, source devices selected for display on projectors or the entire Ballroom shutdown for the night.
Much consideration was given to the choice of speaker for this project. Due to the Ballroom’s grand and classic styling it was decided that the speakers needed to be as discreet as possible and yet still provide the audio performance expected of a function venue capable of hosting a party for 500 plus guests. The final design included a number of Renkus-Heinz high efficiency loud speakers and two 15” Turbosound subwoofers. Mounted high and tight against the rooms support columns the speakers are as discreet as could be hoped for and with the subwoofers provide outstanding audio performance.
Powering the system are a number of Australian Monitor power amplifiers connected to a Digitool digital sound processor. In addition to the audio signal equipment the system contains several AMX Autopatch video signal switchers and a Netlinx master controller. Finishing the new system are a pair of Mipro ACT series UFH microphones and receivers.
